At 22:49 on September 3, Gambian President Adama Barrow arrived in Beijing by plane to attend the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit. In 2018, President Barrow came to China to attend the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
Gambia is located in western Africa. China and Gambia have achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation. The three key projects of China-aided Gambia, namely the International Conference Center, the Upper River Road Bridge, and the National Broadband Network, have been successfully completed, playing a good economic and social role. China is Gambia’s largest trading partner. In 2023, the trade volume between China and Gambia was US$520 million, up 5.6% year-on-year.
China has sent a total of 7 batches of medical team members, more than 10 teachers, and many agricultural experts to work in Gambia. More than 1,900 Gambian technicians have gone to China for exchanges and training, and there are currently more than 280 international students studying in China.
